I apologize for not posting this sooner... life seems to get in the way.
After spending two wonderful weeks with Mike home it was now time to send him back. If I thought that sending Mike off the first time was hard it is nothing compared to sending him back a second time.
We took a few minutes before leaving to take this last family picture of all of us.
After arriving at the airport we stood in line for almost two hours waiting on a flight for Mike. Let me explain, the flight that Mike was to originally fly out on got grounded for mechanical problems, so we had to wait for another flight to be opened up. It was very frustrating for Mike specifically because he has to be in Dallas by a certain time. After several phone calls we were finally able to secure him on a flight.
With Mike's boarding pass in hand he is making his way through the security check point. We decided not accompany Mike to the gate this time. Emotions were already running high and we did not want it to be harder on Mike, he is after all the one that is having to leave us.

Mike called us Tuesday afternoon to let us know that he made it to Kuwait and he was then waiting on a flight to his finally destination. Finally today, Sat. June 20, Mike called to let us know that he just landed in Iraq. I'm sure that he is glad to be in his home away from home.
We miss you so much honey and pray for you daily!
All our love!,
Debbie, Tony and Cheyenne
Well, it made for a very nice "Happy Father's Day" post, too.
ReplyDeleteGlad to know he made it safely back.
